Phillip Lim (lookbook party)

So I recently attended a party at Nordstroms for Phillip Lim's Fall 2010 collection.

- overview
Somewhere in the air between Disco and Punk lives a woman boiling with youthful revolt but distinguished by unexpectedly classic style. Her clothes are meticulous but her way is easy. She says goodbye to dreamy glitter and too much skin, anticipating a newer, street tough dream. Her obsession with baroque flourishes surprises many and amuses her to no end. She has this punk rebellion, so she will cut her dress. But it seemed cut by the wind, for this was where the magic happened, somewhere in the air between inherent and apparent.

Walking the razor's edge between the old Bowery and the new Park Avenue, Phillip Lim creates a versatile, modern wardrobe for fall. he envisions a woman who is confident in her contrasts, ready for business, but always up for fun.

"For the pure love of getting dressed, these clothes are for the love of clothes, nothing more" --Phillip Lim

these are some of my personal favorites.

I've Lost You

I’m not sure how things like this happen. Why I get so lazy to not even post anything is unacceptable. I will have Andrewanye poke me with his sewing needles till his name is scarred on my wrist. Don’t try to stop him either, because he will get you too!

Well I’m sure you’ve heard about the late and great Alexander McQueen that left the fashion world too early. I will definitely remember him for his 10-inch lobster claw heels and the outfit he designed for Janet Jackson during her infamous wardrobe malfunction. I’m going to miss his shocking pieces on the runway.

Lately, Andrewanye and I have been busy with school, internships (well Andy has one), and work, so sitting down right now to write about fun things like fashion makes me feel lucky to have this interest.

There are some things I have been obsessed with lately:

The movie, 500 Days of Summer. Zooey Deschanel is one of my favorite people. I want to raid her closet! The soundtrack to this flick is pretty rad too.

The song “Age of Consent” by New Order has been stuck in my head for days. I finally bought it from iTunes (because illegal downloading sucks!). The boys I work with are constantly playing this song, I couldn’t help but like it.

The shoes of Miu Miu’s Spring-Summer 2010 line. I could trip around Chicago with these on and still feel pretty fabulous.

The Store of My Dreams

While walking around Wicker Park on a chill Friday afternoon, my friend Mallarie and I came across the cutest store in existence on Milwaukee Ave. Rudy’s Roundup is a vintage shop with distinctive modern accessories, paper goods, gifts, and other quirky items. As soon as I walked into this store I fell in love. If I had to open a store it would be just like Rudy’s Roundup. The prices are reasonable, the girls working there were awesome, and I could have spent hours looking at every single item. I ended up going there two days in a row, the second time with my mama.

Some Items I just had to have!

They were having a big sale since they are closing down for a couple of weeks, but will reopen later in February. They're located on 1410 N. Milwaukee in Wicker Park. http://www.rudysroundup.com/

maison martin margiela?

I recently watched the latest Maison Martin Margiela show and don't really know what to think. A mix between structure and peek - a - boo's the show was monotone but still had my attention. Martin Margiela is one of my major inspirations for my own creations, you can check his work out at   www.maisonmartinmargiela.com
